Incubus I've loved this band since I was about 12 or 13 although that love has sort of tapered off the older I've gotten. I didn't buy their last CD Light Grenades because I just figured they were too popular and trying to sound like everyone else by this time. By now I'm going to give it a go. Also I put three love type of songs from three of their CDs that I thought were pretty awesome. In fact, Stellar was probably my favorite song for the longest time.
Owen This guy is just special. Sure he sounds like a lot of other stuff, but when I saw him at a mewithoutYou concert playing guitar by himself it was a different story. He puts me in this mood that I can't describe. Like he's telling me a story that completely enthralls and involves me. He plays little ditties about breakups and such and they are nice and they put me in a special place.
Sorry this is a buttload of music at once but I put off posting for a while so I figured it's acceptable.
This came to me in a wild rush of sadness and love and it offers some hope. And now I'm okayish:
"Find a friend and stay close and with a melting heart Tell them whatever you're most ashamed of - Our parents have made so many mistakes, But may we forgive them and forgive ourselves." -From The Sun & The Moon by mewithoutYou
You know how seeing a song live makes it more real and beautiful and makes you pause to consider it when you didn't before? Yeah, that's what happened here:
Every song is about him today. I'm going to die of loneliness for sure. A weekend without him and I assume the worst and begin contemplating my escape. I thought maybe I'm shizophrenic and this Tom person was just a charachter derived from my mind. All those memories false, all that warmth, and growth, and closeness, and connection nonexistant. How can I be so attached to another person so much? It's beautiful and powerful for sure, yet so delicate.
An ode to the sadness and then rejoicing of this weekend. I can't believe I can be loved so well.
Like sisters and brothers we lean on each other Like sweethearts carved on a headstone Oh why even bother, it'll be here tomorrow It's not worth it sleeping alone
And look at you and me still here together There is no one knows you better And we've come such a long long way Let's put it off for one more day.

New guitar smell! Orange and yellow things! Not having to wake up! Singing along to Bohemian Like You! Groovin'! And most of all...Tommy!
There's a new album coming out called Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon by Devendra Banhart. It's going to be available September 25th I believe. Therefore I am quite excited. Now listen to these new songs because they are groovy.
Besides this development, I know I haven't updated this in a while and so a lot of songs of the week have gone by and maybe I have even tired of them by now. But nevertheless here are a few of them:
I recently saw this band for the second time playing with mewithoutYou in concert and I have to say they have gotten even better. Their music has a bit of a country feel to it with some rock and folk and it makes me happy lots lately so listen to it.
I saw this band way back in September playing before Sufjan Stevens with a sound that seemed perfectly suited for a dark starry Fox Theatre. It's quite dark and beautiful. Very much like Elysian Fields with the sultry sounding voices.
This blog primarily serves to share songs I happen to enjoy with others, mostly friends. If you like what you hear then by all means go support the artists by buying their music. If you find that I have posted a track that you own please email (cookemi@gmail.com) me and I will take it down.
